How to direct an EXL privacy request to the right party

EXL's privacy notice distinguishes its own controller data from personal data it processes for customers. For customer records, EXL directs people to the relevant customer; for data it controls, EXL publishes a privacy portal and privacy email.

Work through this with your agent

Give your agent the published steps, sources and read-only tools. It should check the current official process and ask before taking action.

Copies public guidance only. You still approve any request your agent submits.

Using EXLService.com's published route

These instructions describe the provider's published process. They do not submit a request or confirm an outcome.

  1. 01

Work out whether the data is EXL's or a customer's

If the record came from a service EXL operates for one of its customers, EXL says to direct the request to that customer. If contacting EXL, name the customer so EXL can refer the request and support the customer.

  2. 02

For EXL-controlled data, choose the right request

The US notice describes requests to know, delete, correct, or obtain a copy, plus opt-out of sale or sharing where applicable. It lists the EXL Privacy Management Portal and Privacy@exlservice.com.

  3. 03

State the specific information and action

EXL asks people requesting deletion to specify what information they want deleted; a know request should specify the details sought. EXL may ask for information to verify identity and eligibility.

  4. 04

Keep the reply and follow up with the correct controller

Save the request and response. The policy allows some requests to be limited or denied under legal exceptions; a request routed to a customer is not proof that the customer changed its records.

What this request covers

The portal and email are for EXL privacy requests. EXL says it processes some information on behalf of customers, and requests about that processing should go to the relevant customer. Sale/sharing opt-out, access, correction, deletion, and service-account issues are different scopes.

Troubleshooting

EXL says it processed the data for a customer

Use the customer relationship or service that generated the record to identify and contact the relevant customer; EXL says it can refer a direct request if you provide the customer's name.

You are unsure what to include

Name the specific EXL-controlled data and requested right. The privacy notice says EXL may ask for information needed to verify identity and eligibility.

You want a sale or sharing opt-out

Use the notice's Do Not Sell or Share control, portal, or privacy email. This does not by itself establish deletion of all records.

Common questions

Before you send a request

Can EXL delete information it processes for a customer?

EXL's notice says it acts as a processor for customer processing and directs requests about that data to the relevant customer, while offering to refer and support the request if given the customer's name.

Does EXL publish a request portal?

Yes. Its privacy notice links to the EXL Privacy Management Portal and also lists Privacy@exlservice.com for US state privacy requests.

Review and change history

A content review or directory snapshot is reference history. A historical route observation does not establish submission, provider acceptance or removal, and does not establish a current working route. Current independent evidence has its own scope and expiry.

  1. · Reviewed EXL's privacy notice (last updated October 2025), its US privacy-rights instructions, and the linked EXL Privacy Management Portal landing page. No identifying details were entered and no request was sent or verified. This is the recorded review baseline; no earlier editorial change log is available.
