Cognism opt-out: how to remove your data from its B2B database

Start at Cognism's official data opt-out page (cognism.com/data-opt-out), which loads the company's Privacy Centre. There you request deletion of your personal data from Cognism's B2B platform. Cognism does not publish a removal timeline; expect days rather than minutes. If the form gives you trouble, email privacy@cognism.com with your name, location and employer.

Work through this with your agent

Give your agent the published steps, sources and read-only tools. It should check the current official process and ask before taking action.

Copies public guidance only. You still approve any request your agent submits.

Step by step

Remove yourself from Cognism

6 steps. Use the official site in a normal browser and follow its current instructions if a human check fails.

  1. 01

Start at the official opt-out page

Go to cognism.com/data-opt-out. It forwards to the Cognism Privacy Centre at cognism.privacy.saymine.io/cognism, a MineOS-hosted page. Check the address bar: the official flow lives on cognism.com or cognism.privacy.saymine.io. You never need to pay or create an account to opt out.

  2. 02

    File a deletion request

In the Privacy Centre, start a request and ask for deletion of your personal data from the Cognism Platform. Cognism's privacy policy says it needs some personal information to validate you and action the request, and that the information is used only for that. Give the name, work email and employer that match the record.

  3. 03

    Submit and note the confirmation

Submit the request and save any reference or confirmation you receive. Cognism says it processes requests within the timeframes set by applicable data protection law; in the EU and UK that is generally up to a month, though straightforward opt-outs are usually faster.

  4. 04

Use email if the form fails

If the Privacy Centre does not load or you prefer email, send your request to privacy@cognism.com. Include your full name, location and the work email or employer on the record, and state that you are exercising your right to deletion under applicable state privacy law or GDPR.

  5. 05

Watch for calls from Cognism's customers

Removing your record from Cognism stops new exports of it, but copies already downloaded by Cognism's customers sit in their own CRM systems. Those companies are separate data controllers, so if a specific company keeps contacting you, ask it directly to delete your details.

  6. 06

    Re-check every few months

Cognism refreshes its platform from data vendors and customer uploads, so a record can come back after a job change or a new data feed. Submit the Privacy Centre request again if your details reappear, and keep each confirmation email as proof.

What is Cognism?

Cognism is a B2B sales-intelligence company. It sells subscriptions to a database of business contacts that sales, recruiting and marketing teams use to find people's work email addresses, direct phone numbers and job details, often through a browser extension or integrations with CRM tools like Salesforce and HubSpot. Its customers are mid-market and enterprise revenue teams, especially in Europe.

You do not need an account or any relationship with Cognism to be in its database. Its privacy policy says business contact data comes from third-party data vendors, from customers who share their own records, and from correspondence with you. Cognism also says it may generate an approximate business email for a profile based on the standard email format of your employer.

What a Cognism listing can show

  • Full name and job title
  • Work email address (sometimes generated from the employer's email format)
  • Business phone and mobile numbers
  • Current and past employers and employment history
  • Approximate office location (city, state or country)
  • LinkedIn profile URL

Who runs Cognism, and which sites one request covers

Cognism is operated by Cognism Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 9392705) with a registered office in London, acting as joint controller with Cognism d.o.o. in Croatia. Its affiliates include Cognism DOOEL Skopje, Mailtastic Limited and Kaspr SAS, and data can be shared between affiliates under data-sharing agreements. Cognism sells to businesses rather than consumers, so there is no public search page where you can look yourself up. Similar B2B databases such as ZoomInfo, Apollo and Lusha hold their own copies and each needs its own opt-out.

What is the cognism.com opt-out removal process?

Cognism's opt-out starts at its official data opt-out page, which forwards to the Cognism Privacy Centre hosted by MineOS (cognism.privacy.saymine.io/cognism). You file a data-rights request there and ask for deletion of your personal data from the Cognism Platform; Cognism may ask for identifying information to validate you. The privacy policy lists the same two channels: the Privacy Centre form (recommended) or an email to privacy@cognism.com. When we loaded it on October 5, 2026 the page returned a working Privacy Center with no bot check.

How long it takes

Cognism does not publish a removal timeline. Its privacy policy says requests are processed within the timeframes set by applicable data protection law, which is up to one month under the GDPR and UK GDPR, usually faster for a simple opt-out. To confirm it worked, watch whether sales calls and emails that used your Cognism-sourced details taper off, and you can email privacy@cognism.com to ask for confirmation that the record was deleted.

If it does not work

Cognism opt-out problems and fixes

The Privacy Centre page is blank or won't load

The Privacy Centre is a JavaScript app. Try a normal browser window with extensions and VPN off, or switch browsers. If it still fails, email privacy@cognism.com; the privacy policy lists email as an equally valid channel for opt-out requests.

I don't know whether Cognism has my data

There is no public search on cognism.com. You can ask via the Privacy Centre or privacy@cognism.com whether Cognism processes your data (an access request), then decide whether to ask for deletion.

No confirmation or response after submitting

Allow the legal window (about a month under GDPR, often much faster). Then follow up at privacy@cognism.com, quoting the date of your request and the details you submitted.

Sales calls continue after the opt-out

A company may have exported your record before the deletion, or bought it from another broker. Ask that company where it got your data; if it names Cognism after your deletion date, forward that to privacy@cognism.com.

My record came back months later

New vendor feeds and customer uploads can re-add you. Submit the Privacy Centre request again; repeat requests are normal for B2B databases. Keep every confirmation.

Cognism shows an email address I never used

Cognism says it may construct a business email from your employer's standard format. Name the employer when you request deletion so Cognism can match and delete the generated record too.

Send this to privacy@cognism.com

Subject: Deletion request for my personal data in the Cognism Platform

Hello, Under applicable state privacy law and the GDPR where they apply, I request that Cognism delete all personal data it holds about me in the Cognism Platform and stop making it available to customers. Name: [Full name] Email address on the record: [Email] Location: [City, State] Employer / record details: [Listing URL] Please confirm by email once the deletion is complete. Thank you.

After you opt out of Cognism

Keep the confirmation email or reference number. B2B data platforms refresh constantly from vendors and customer uploads, so your record can reappear, especially after a job change. Re-check every two to three months and clear the same details from lookalike databases such as ZoomInfo, Apollo and Lusha; that ongoing re-checking is what My Privacy Agent's Patrol plan automates.

Realistic scope

This guide explains how to request the action Cognism publishes for its own site. Reading the guide or sending a request does not establish completed removal. Other sites and original public records are separate; recheck the specific cognism.com page after the site's response and if the information appears again.

Common questions

Cognism opt-out FAQ

Is Cognism legit, and is its opt-out safe to use?

Yes. Cognism Limited is a real, registered UK company (England and Wales, company number 9392705) that sells sales-intelligence software to businesses. Its opt-out channels — the Privacy Centre form and privacy@cognism.com — are free and published in its privacy policy. Ignore any third party that charges a fee to remove you from Cognism.

How do I remove my data from Cognism?

Use the official opt-out page at cognism.com/data-opt-out, which loads the Cognism Privacy Centre, and file a deletion request. Alternatively, email privacy@cognism.com. Both routes are free and published in Cognism's privacy policy.

Is the Cognism opt-out free?

Yes. The Privacy Centre form and the privacy@cognism.com email route are both free, and neither requires a Cognism account or subscription.

How long does the Cognism opt-out take?

Cognism does not publish a specific timeline. Its privacy policy commits to the timeframes in applicable data protection law, which is up to a month under GDPR and usually faster for a straightforward opt-out.

Why does Cognism have my work email and phone number?

Its privacy policy names three sources: third-party data vendors that license business contact data, customers who share their own records, and correspondence with you. Cognism may also generate an approximate business email from your employer's standard format.

Does opting out of Cognism remove me from ZoomInfo or Apollo?

No. Those are separate companies with separate databases. Each B2B data provider needs its own opt-out request. Kaspr, which is part of the Cognism group, should also be treated as a separate opt-out.

Can I opt out of Cognism without giving my personal information?

The request needs enough detail for Cognism to find and validate the right record, such as your name, work email and employer. Cognism says this information is used only to process your request.

Why am I still getting sales calls after opting out of Cognism?

A company may have exported your record before your deletion took effect, sourced it elsewhere, or be working from its own CRM history. Ask the caller where it got your details and to delete them; if it names Cognism after your deletion date, report that to privacy@cognism.com.

A content review or directory snapshot is reference history. A historical route observation does not establish submission, provider acceptance or removal, and does not establish a current working route. Current independent evidence has its own scope and expiry.

  2. · Historical route observation: reachable (HTTP 200). This describes only the page observed on that date; later steps and today's availability were not established by that observation.
