Subject: Opt-out / data removal request -- FamilySearch
Please remove my listing from FamilySearch (familysearch.org). I am the person named in the listing. Please confirm once my information has been removed and let me know if you need anything else from me to process this request. Thank you.
Who runs FamilySearch, and which sites one request covers
FamilySearch (familysearch.org) handles its own removal requests. We have not found sister sites that share its opt-out, so a request here covers familysearch.org only. It is listed as a people search site in our Custom Removals coverage tier.
Common FamilySearch failure states
- The confirmation email never arrives -- check spam before resubmitting.
- The form rejects the submission without a clear reason; use a normal browser and follow the official site's troubleshooting before changing privacy settings.
- The listing reappears weeks or months later after the site refreshes its data.
Realistic scope
This guide explains how to request the action FamilySearch publishes for its own site. Reading the guide or sending a request does not establish completed removal. Other sites and original public records are separate; recheck the specific familysearch.org page after the site's response and if the information appears again.
Not yet a filed-for-you target
This page documents FamilySearch's published privacy route. My Privacy Agent Patrol does not file this site automatically yet. An exposure check uses configured sources and does not confirm that this specific site is included.
FamilySearch opt-out FAQ
What is the familysearch.org opt-out removal process?
FamilySearch publishes an opt-out form and a privacy email (nasupport@familysearch.org). Submit the form with the details on your listing, then confirm any verification email it sends. We loaded the opt-out page on familysearch.org on October 5, 2026 and it was up.
Is the FamilySearch opt-out free?
Yes. FamilySearch's own removal route costs nothing. You never need to pay FamilySearch or a third party to submit it.
How long does FamilySearch take to remove a listing?
FamilySearch does not publish a firm timeline. Re-check your listing a few days after you confirm the request, and again after two weeks; if it is still up, resubmit or email the site's privacy contact.
Will my FamilySearch listing come back?
It can. FamilySearch and similar sites refresh their data from public records and commercial feeds, so a removed listing can reappear. Re-check every few months and file again if it does.

Open guideReview and change history
A content review or directory snapshot is reference history. A historical route observation does not establish submission, provider acceptance or removal, and does not establish a current working route. Current independent evidence has its own scope and expiry.
· Directory source snapshot for the published privacy route. This is an inventory date; a hands-on editorial review or form submission is not recorded by this baseline.
· Historical route observation: reachable (HTTP 200). This describes only the page observed on that date; later steps and today's availability were not established by that observation.
Read current independent route evidence. That record reports its own scope, date, expiry and any gaps; this history does not renew verification.
