Step by step

Remove yourself from PeopleByName

8 steps. Use the official site in a normal browser and follow its current instructions if a human check fails.

  1. 01

    Find your listing on PeopleByName

Go to peoplebyname.com and search for your name and phone number. Note the Record ID displayed on your profile page (usually a string of numbers); you will need this to file your removal. Write down the address and phone number shown to ensure you match them exactly when submitting the request.

  2. 02

    Open the opt-out form

Navigate to peoplebyname.com/remove.php in a standard browser without a VPN. Do not use privacy extensions or script blockers, as these can trigger the CAPTCHA repeatedly. Check the address bar to confirm you are on the official PeopleByName domain before entering any personal data.

  3. 03

    Enter your information

Fill in the removal form with your full name, email address, street address, city, and state. Use the exact name and address as they appear on your listing to help PeopleByName match the request to the correct record. Double-check spelling and spacing before proceeding.

  4. 04

    Add your Record ID

Paste or type the Record ID from your PeopleByName profile into the form. This unique identifier ties your request to your specific entry in their database. Without it, PeopleByName may have difficulty locating your record, especially if multiple people share your name in your area.

  5. 05

    Complete the CAPTCHA

Solve the CAPTCHA challenge. If you are using a VPN or privacy extension, the site may require you to solve multiple challenges or ask you to verify by email. Disable these tools on peoplebyname.com if the form gets stuck.

  6. 06

    Submit the removal request

Click the "Request Removal" or "Submit" button. The form will confirm receipt and display a message stating that a verification email is on its way. Do not close the page until this confirmation message appears.

  7. 07

    Click the verification email

Check your email inbox and spam/promotions folders for a message from PeopleByName. The email will contain a verification link or button. Click it to finalize your removal request. Your deletion is not processed until you complete this step.

  8. 08

Verify removal after 24 to 48 hours

Search for your name and phone number on PeopleByName one more time after 24 to 48 hours. Your profile should no longer appear, or it should show as a private/locked listing. If your information is still public, try submitting a second request or contact support@peoplebyname.com to escalate.

What the PeopleByName opt-out page looked like when we checked

Behind a human check

When we loaded peoplebyname.com on October 5, 2026, it showed a "verify you are human" check before the form. Use a normal browser with VPN off; the form usually appears after the check.

This is a dated record of what our browser saw, not a removal. We never submit requests from this page.

What is PeopleByName?

PeopleByName is a people-search and reverse-phone-lookup database covering the US and Canada. It maintains over 600 million names and more than 1.3 billion records, making it one of the largest reverse-lookup services online. The site serves individuals doing background checks, employers verifying hires, and telemarketers hunting contact information. You do not need to have signed up to appear in it; PeopleByName sources data from public records, old phone directories, social media, and data-broker purchases.

The service pairs phone numbers, names, and addresses to sell access to marketers, debt collectors, and other parties. A single search reveals your current and past address, phone history, neighbors, and sometimes age or relatives' contact information. PeopleByName's reverse-lookup reports are common in spam-call services and TCPA liability concerns.

What a PeopleByName listing can show

  • Full name associated with a phone number
  • Current and past residential addresses
  • Phone number and calling history data
  • Age or date of birth (when available)
  • Names and phone numbers of neighbors
  • Links to social media profiles
  • Possible relatives and family members

Who runs PeopleByName, and which sites one request covers

PeopleByName is part of the PeopleConnect family, a network of people-search and data-aggregation services operated by PeopleConnect Inc. The PeopleConnect suppression portal at suppression.peopleconnect.us covers multiple sister sites under the same parent company, though PeopleByName opt-outs can also be filed directly at the site's remove.php form.

What is the peoplebyname.com opt-out removal process?

The PeopleByName removal process requires a web form with five fields: your full name, email address, street address, city/state, and the record ID shown on your listing. The form includes a CAPTCHA check to verify you are human. When we loaded the page on October 5, 2026 using a residential internet connection, the form displayed a standard text-input layout with a "Request Removal" button. After submission, PeopleByName sends an email confirmation link that you must click to activate the deletion request.

How long it takes

PeopleByName reports that most removal requests are processed within 24 hours of verification. In practice, allow 24 to 48 hours from the time you click the verification email for the listing to be taken down. Search your name again after two business days to confirm. Keep the confirmation email as proof of your request; if your listing reappears months later, you can refer to the original submission date.

If it does not work

PeopleByName opt-out problems and fixes

The form is not loading or the button is unresponsive

Disable VPN, ad blockers, script blockers, and cookie managers for peoplebyname.com. Reload the page in a fresh private window. Try a different browser if the problem persists. When we checked on October 5, 2026 the form worked with basic web protections only.

The CAPTCHA keeps appearing or changes every time I solve it

You are likely being flagged as a bot by PeopleByName's WAF. Disable your privacy tools, wait 5 minutes, and try again. If the loop continues, email support@peoplebyname.com with your name and request details instead; they can process removals manually.

I don't see a Record ID on my profile

Some listings hide the Record ID or format it differently. Try copying the full URL of your profile page and pasting it into the removal form in the comments or contact field. Contact support@peoplebyname.com with your name, address, and the direct link to your listing.

The verification email never arrived

Check spam, promotions, and all Gmail tabs. If after 10 minutes you still haven't received it, go back to the form and resubmit, or send an email to support@peoplebyname.com with your name, address, and phone number, requesting manual removal.

My listing came back weeks or months later

PeopleByName re-acquires data from public records and other brokers, so re-listings happen often, especially after relocations or new phone assignments. Repeat the opt-out process. Save copies of all removal confirmations to show a pattern if you need to file a CCPA or FDCPA complaint.

I cannot access the form due to a WAF or geographic block

PeopleByName uses Cloudflare Turnstile protection, which can block datacenter IPs. Use a residential connection or a proxy that mimics residential traffic. If you remain blocked, contact support@peoplebyname.com by email from the same address you want to use for removal.

Subject: Request to remove my information from PeopleByName

Hello, I request that PeopleByName remove all my personal information from its database and records, including my phone number, name, address, and any associated data. Under applicable privacy laws including the CCPA and TCPA, I also request that you stop selling, sharing, or renting my information to third parties. Name: [Full name] Phone number: [Phone number] Current address: [Street Address, City, State, Zip] Email: [Email] Please confirm removal by email once my request has been processed. Thank you.

After you opt out of PeopleByName

Keep your removal confirmation email indefinitely. PeopleByName and its sister sites under the PeopleConnect umbrella continue to source new data from public records, phone databases, and third-party data purchases, meaning your name and phone number can reappear. Re-check your profile every 60 to 90 days and resubmit if needed. You should also file separate removal requests with other reverse-lookup and people-search sites, including FreePeopleSearch, CheckPeople, and Information.com, since each broker maintains its own database.

Common questions

PeopleByName opt-out FAQ

Is PeopleByName a real service, and is it safe to use their opt-out form?

Yes. PeopleByName is a legitimate, widely used reverse-phone-lookup service. Its removal form is the official and safe way to request deletion. The form is hosted on peoplebyname.com and only collects the details needed to locate and delete your record. Do not use third-party services claiming to remove you from PeopleByName for a fee; the official removal is always free. Be cautious of any site asking for your Social Security number or payment to remove you from PeopleByName.

How do I remove my information from PeopleByName?

Visit peoplebyname.com/remove.php and fill out the removal form with your full name, email, address, and Record ID from your profile. Complete the CAPTCHA and submit. Click the verification link PeopleByName sends to your email to finalize the request. Removal takes 24 to 48 hours.

Is the PeopleByName removal form free?

Yes. The official opt-out form and email removal are completely free. You do not need a PeopleByName account or subscription to remove yourself. Avoid third-party removal services that charge fees; they are unnecessary.

How long does PeopleByName removal take?

PeopleByName says most removals are completed within 24 hours of verification. In practice, search your name again after 24 to 48 hours. If your listing is still live after 48 hours, email support@peoplebyname.com to escalate.

Why does PeopleByName have my phone number and address?

PeopleByName buys data from public records, phone directories, and other data brokers. It also scrapes public websites and social media. The company does not need your permission to list your information; it sources data from third parties who aggregated it first.

Does removing myself from PeopleByName remove me from other sites like FreePeopleSearch?

No. Each data broker maintains its own database. FreePeopleSearch, CheckPeople, Information.com, and other reverse-lookup services all need separate removal requests. Many are related to PeopleByName through the PeopleConnect parent company, but each requires its own opt-out.

What if I don't have a Record ID?

If you cannot find or copy the Record ID from your profile, include the full URL of your listing in the removal form or email it to support@peoplebyname.com. You can also describe your profile (your name, phone, and address), and PeopleByName's support team can look it up for you.
