Homes.com opt-out: choose the right request for your account or property page

Homes.com offers several different privacy routes. Its Communication Opt-Out page directs account-information removal to support@homes.com or (800) 431-5509. California residents can use its separate sale opt-out; the page describes additional browser and third-party advertising controls for opting out of sharing for advertising. Homes.com's footer also links to CoStar Group's Data Privacy Portal for privacy-rights requests, which begins with an email verification gate. Removing account information or changing marketing preferences does not establish that a public property record or photo was removed; ask support to address that content separately.

Work through this with your agent

Give your agent the published steps, sources and read-only tools. It should check the current official process and ask before taking action.

Copies public guidance only. You still approve any request your agent submits.

Step by step

Remove yourself from Homes.com

7 steps. Use the official site in a normal browser and follow its current instructions if a human check fails.

  1. 01

Decide what you want Homes.com to address

Write down whether you mean account information, unwanted communications, sale or advertising preferences, or information on a specific property page. If a page or photo is involved, save its exact URL privately and describe the affected content. Keep an address or other identifiers out of public comments, shared agent logs and search links that do not need them.

  2. 02

Choose the official route for that scope

For account-information removal, start with the support address or phone number displayed on Homes.com's Communication Opt-Out page. For access, deletion, correction or opt-out requests, follow Exercise your Privacy Rights in the official footer to the CoStar Data Privacy Portal. Check both the current Homes.com link and the destination rather than trusting a lookalike privacy site.

  3. 03

Review the portal's email verification step

If you use the portal, choose an email address you control. The entry screen reviewed on October 22 asked for Email and offered Send verification link. Sending that email is an external action, so an agent should stop for explicit approval. The review did not request a verification message, inspect a real email or test the next screen.

  4. 04

Open your own verification link and read the actual options

The portal states that its verification link can be used once and expires after 24 hours. Complete the email step yourself and read the request choices it actually displays. Identify Homes.com and your requested scope where the current form permits. Do not rely on invented dropdown labels, assumed identity-document requirements or a description of post-verification fields this guide has not observed.

  5. 05

Handle property records and photos as a specific content issue

If the concern is a property page or image, give support the exact page and a narrow description of the issue. Ask what source supplies it and which correction or removal process applies. An account deletion or communications opt-out does not establish deletion of public property information or every syndicated photo. Do not send unrelated ownership or identity documents before the official process explains why they are needed.

  6. 06

Approve any request and save the real response

Review the identifying details and scope before you or your agent submits a request. Save any confirmation, reference number and provider reply actually returned, and ask for the processing timeframe if it is not stated. A draft, a verification email, a request receipt and a completed change are separate stages; record only the stage that happened.

  7. 07

Recheck the account, preference or original page separately

After the provider says it has acted, check the object you wanted changed. For a property issue, revisit the same URL and affected content. For account information or marketing, verify those separately. If the source page has changed but Google still shows old information, consider Google's outdated-content process as a later search-result cleanup step, not evidence that Homes.com changed the source.

What is Homes.com?

Homes.com is a real-estate site where an account, a marketing preference and a public property page are different objects. A person looking to remove information should first identify which one is causing the concern. Closing an account can address account information without resolving content displayed on a property page. Stopping messages can change communications while leaving both the account and the public page in place.

The official Communication Opt-Out page describes California's sale opt-out separately from opting out of sharing for advertising. For the latter, it points to browser global privacy controls, cookie settings and third-party advertising opt-outs. Homes.com's current Global Privacy Notice describes additional state-law privacy rights for residents of the states it lists; do not assume every statutory request is available to every person. The footer links to a CoStar privacy portal, but its unfilled entry screen does not reveal every later option or establish which requests will be accepted.

What a Homes.com listing can show

  • A public property page and its listing details or images, where those are present
  • Account information provided through a person's use of the service
  • Communications, advertising or sale preferences managed through separate controls
  • The exact record and source that apply to your request must be identified with Homes.com; this guide has not inspected a private account

Who runs Homes.com, and which sites one request covers

Homes.com's own footer links Exercise your Privacy Rights to privacy.costar.com/DSAR-submission/. The destination identifies itself as CoStar Group Data Privacy Portal and describes access, deletion, correction and opt-out requests. That published link establishes why a different host appears in the instructions; it is not a direction to an unrelated paid removal service.

Use the current Homes.com page to confirm that destination before entering an email address. The separate Communication Opt-Out page visibly lists Support@homes.com and (800) 431-5509 for account-information removal. The browser review did not establish the source of a particular property record or photo. Ask which source supplies the affected content and which correction or removal route applies instead of assuming a particular assessor, listing service or syndication process.

What is the homes.com opt-out removal process?

Choose the request scope, then use the matching official contact or portal. The reviewed CoStar entry screen displayed an Email field and a Send verification link control. It said the emailed link was single-use and valid for 24 hours. No email was requested during this review, so the post-verification form, its exact choices and any further identity requirements remain unobserved. Account support, marketing preferences and a property-content issue may need separate follow-up.

How long it takes

The observed 24 hours is the CoStar verification link lifetime, not a removal deadline. The reviewed entry screen did not establish a processing timeframe for a Homes.com deletion, correction or property-content request. Ask the current portal or support to state the timeframe for your chosen scope. Do not count the appearance of Send verification link or an email receipt as completion.

If it does not work

Homes.com opt-out problems and fixes

The CoStar verification email does not arrive

Check spam and filtering, and confirm the address you actually entered. Use the current portal's resend instructions if available. Avoid repeatedly creating requests before checking for an existing message, and ask the official support contact for help if you remain blocked. This guide has not tested delivery.

The verification link has expired or was already used

The entry screen says the link is single-use and valid for 24 hours. Start again from the official portal for a new link, review the requested email action, and use the new message yourself. That expiry says nothing about how quickly the later privacy request will be processed.

The privacy link opens costar.com instead of homes.com

Homes.com's footer linked to privacy.costar.com/DSAR-submission/ during the editorial review. Confirm that relationship from the current official footer before proceeding. If the destination differs or its purpose is unclear, stop and ask Homes.com support rather than entering identifiers into an unfamiliar replacement.

My account is closed but the property page or photos remain

Account information and public content are different scopes. Contact support with the exact page and content issue and ask which source and process apply. Keep the account-deletion reply, but do not use it as proof that all public property information should have disappeared.

Marketing stopped but my other information did not change

Communications, sale or advertising preferences, account data and property content can be separate controls. Read the confirmation to see which action it covers. Prepare a second scoped request only if needed instead of treating one preference change as deletion of all data.

Google still shows content after the source changed

First check the original Homes.com page. If it no longer contains the old content, use Google's outdated-content process for the stale result where appropriate. A search engine cache refresh is separate from Homes.com support and cannot correct a source page that still publishes the information.

Subject: Homes.com privacy request: [account information or specific content issue]

Hello, Please help me with this Homes.com request. Let me know the minimum information needed and the expected processing timeframe. Please confirm the exact action taken and any limits to what this request covers. I have not attached identity or ownership documents. Please explain any verification requirement before I provide more information. Thank you.

After you opt out of Homes.com

Keep the request scope alongside the provider's answer and the observation you made afterward. A property-page correction, an account change and a marketing preference can have different outcomes, so track them individually. Revisit the original page after a reported change and whenever you notice the information returning. This guide does not establish a recurring automated Homes.com check, and a page that cannot be accessed is an unknown result rather than proof of removal.

Set expectations

Realistic scope

Homes.com's official page separates account information removal from communications, sale and advertising preferences. It does not establish deletion of property records, public records, photos or MLS-supplied facts. Ask support which process applies to the specific content, and verify the result of each request separately.

Common questions

Homes.com opt-out FAQ

Is the CoStar privacy portal an official Homes.com request route?

Homes.com's official footer linked to the CoStar Group Data Privacy Portal during the October 22 review. Confirm the current footer link yourself before entering an email address. The portal describes privacy requests and begins with email verification, but this review did not inspect the next screen or test acceptance of any request.

How do I remove my information from Homes.com?

Choose the scope first. The Communication Opt-Out page directs account-information removal to support@homes.com or (800) 431-5509. The official footer also links to CoStar's portal for access, deletion, correction and opt-out requests. For a public property page or photo, ask support which content source and process apply.

How do account removal and property-page changes differ?

An account change does not establish that public property information or photos were removed. Identify the exact page and content in a separate support request and ask what correction or removal is available. This guide does not promise deletion of public records or every syndicated image.

What happens after I enter an email in the CoStar portal?

The entry screen offers to send a verification link that is single-use and valid for 24 hours. The review stopped before requesting that email. Read the actual post-verification options yourself; their labels, additional fields and any later gates are not documented by this observation.

Does the 24-hour message mean Homes.com removes data in a day?

No. It describes the verification link's lifetime. The inspected entry screen did not establish a removal or correction processing deadline. Ask for the timeframe of your specific request and save the provider's answer.

Are the communications and sale opt-outs the same as deletion?

They are separate scopes on the official pages. Stopping communications or changing sale and advertising preferences does not by itself establish account deletion or correction of a property page. Check the control and confirmation for the action it actually covers.

How do Homes.com's sale and advertising-sharing choices differ?

The Communication Opt-Out page describes a sale opt-out for California residents. It separately says opting out of sharing for advertising also involves browser global privacy controls, cookie settings, and third-party opt-outs: NAI and DAA for the United States, and Your Online Choices for the EEA. Check the current page for the right control for your location; these preferences do not remove account information or a property page. The Global Privacy Notice lists state-law rights for residents of specified states, so do not treat its rights summary as a universal entitlement.

Can an agent handle the Homes.com request?

An agent can help choose the route, read the policy and prepare details. Have the person approve any verification-email request and final submission, and hand control back for email, identity or CAPTCHA steps. A copied instruction set is not authorization to act.

Review and change history

A content review or directory snapshot is reference history. A historical route observation does not establish submission, provider acceptance or removal, and does not establish a current working route. Current independent evidence has its own scope and expiry.

  1. · Historical route observation: reachable (HTTP 200). This describes only the page observed on that date; later steps and today's availability were not established by that observation.

  2. · Editorial review of Homes.com's official privacy links and the unfilled CoStar portal entry screen on October 22, 2026; the Global Privacy Notice displayed a September 21, 2026 update date. No email was requested, no post-verification form was inspected, and no submission, acceptance or removal was verified. This is the recorded review baseline; no earlier editorial change log is available.

  3. · Expanded the guide to distinguish account information, communications, sale preferences and property-page issues. Clarified that shared advertising and privacy controls do not establish removal of property-page content or changes to source records. Documented Homes.com's official CoStar portal link, its observed email gate and the single-use 24-hour link lifetime; that link expiry is not a processing deadline. No verification email, later form or completed request was tested.
