How to remove yourself from LexisNexis (2026 opt-out guide)
Guide content reviewed 2026-10-05
Reading current independent checks… See route evidence
LexisNexis is a risk-data company, not a people-search site, so its opt-out is a menu. Go to consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com/opt and choose a request: stop prescreened credit and insurance offers, stop its direct-marketing products, or suppress your details from restricted public-records products if you face a safety threat. File online, by mail or by phone. Only the safety request needs supporting documents, and it can take up to 30 days.
Direct link to consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com. Opt-outs on this page are free; you never need to pay LexisNexis or us to use them.
Work through this with your agent
Give your agent the published steps, sources and read-only tools. It should check the current official process and ask before taking action.
Copies public guidance only. You still approve any request your agent submits.

Check if you are listed on LexisNexis
LexisNexis does not expose a stable public search URL we can prefill, so find your listing directly: open lexisnexis.com, search your full name plus your state (and previous states), and copy the URL of the record that is you. The opt-out form usually asks for that URL or the same name and location.
What LexisNexis typically shows
- Address history
- Court records
- Professional license information
- Identity attributes used to match you to records in risk reports
An exposure report can help organize candidate listings before you work through the site's official steps.
Remove yourself from LexisNexis
8 steps. Use the official site in a normal browser and follow its current instructions if a human check fails.
- 01
Decide which request you need
The prescreen opt-out keeps you off the lists LexisNexis Risk Solutions Inc. supplies for firm credit and insurance offers. The direct-marketing opt-out stops use of your details in unsolicited marketing built on LexisNexis Risk Solutions FL Inc. products. Public-safety suppression is for officials and people at risk. If more than one applies, file a request for each.
- 02
Optionally request your report first
At consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com/factact, the FACT Act entitles you to one free copy of your applicable consumer report from certain consumer reporting agencies in a 12-month period. Request it online, by mail, or by phone at 1-866-312-8076. After online verification, LexisNexis sends details by mail. Seeing what is on file shows you what to suppress or dispute.
- 03
Open the official opt-out page
Go to consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com/opt. The older optout.lexisnexis.com address forwards there. The page is an overview with buttons, not a form, and we saw no CAPTCHA when we loaded it. Click the Request Opt-Out/Opt-In button. Check the address bar says consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com before you type, because the form asks for sensitive details.
- 04
Fill in the identity details
The online form asks for your name, street address, city, state, ZIP, phone number, date of birth and email, with fields for your Social Security number and for a driver's license number and state. The SSN is labelled optional but is described as the most precise way to find your file. Enter only what you are comfortable giving, and only on the official domain.
- 05
Choose the request type and add documents if needed
Pick Prescreen, Direct Marketing or Public Safety. The first two need no supporting documents. For public safety, officials and law enforcement need documents showing their role or a supervisor's letter about the threat. Private individuals need a protective order, a police report or similar proof, such as a letter from a shelter administrator or a health care professional.
- 06
Submit and save the confirmation
After you submit, the form says your request has been received and is under review. Take a screenshot and note the date. You can instead print the mail-in form from the opt-out page and send it, or call 1-888-497-0011. For safety requests with documents, the form says to allow up to 30 days and expect notice of the decision.
- 07
Use a state privacy request for deletion or do-not-sell
If you live in one of the 20 states LexisNexis lists, including California, Colorado, Texas and Virginia, consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com/privacy lets you ask for access, correction, deletion, or an opt-out of sale or sharing. File online, by mail, or by phone at 1-888-217-1591. There is no charge, and each right applies subject to your state's law.
- 08
Consider a LexisNexis security freeze
A freeze stops LexisNexis Risk Solutions from releasing your consumer disclosure report or credit score without your authorization. It is free to apply, lift or remove, and it covers LexisNexis only, not Equifax, Experian or TransUnion. Request it online at consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com/freeze, by mail or at 1-800-456-1244, and wait for the confirming letter.

We loaded the opt-out page on consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com on October 5, 2026 and it was up.
This is a dated record of what our browser saw, not a removal. We never submit requests from this page.

What is LexisNexis?
LexisNexis Risk Solutions is the risk-analytics arm of RELX, the group that owns LexisNexis. It does not run a public website where you can look yourself up. It sells identity, address-history, public-records and risk data to insurers, lenders, landlords, law enforcement and investigators.
Its files are built from public records, customers, data suppliers and third-party resellers, so you are in them without ever having been a customer. Its consumer portal offers a consumer disclosure report, a security freeze and an FCRA-rights page, which tells you that some of its files are regulated consumer reports. That is why an opt-out here is narrow: it stops particular uses of your data, not the existence of the file.
What a LexisNexis listing can show
- Address history
- Court records
- Professional license information
- Identity attributes used to match you to records in risk reports
Who runs LexisNexis, and which sites one request covers
LexisNexis Risk Solutions belongs to RELX (formerly Reed Elsevier), which has owned LexisNexis since 1994 and bought ChoicePoint in 2008, renaming it LexisNexis Risk Solutions. The opt-out page names two legal entities: LexisNexis Risk Solutions Inc. for prescreen lists, and LexisNexis Risk Solutions FL Inc. for the direct-marketing and public-records products. It is not a sister site of any people-search brand, and a LexisNexis request covers LexisNexis only. Equifax, Experian and TransUnion are separate companies with their own opt-outs.
What is the lexisnexis.com opt-out removal process?
The lexisnexis.com opt-out process starts at consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com/opt. When we loaded the old optout.lexisnexis.com address on October 5, 2026, it forwarded to that page, which showed no CAPTCHA and no form, only an overview of three request types: prescreen firm offers, direct marketing, and public-safety suppression. You file through the online request form, a printable mail-in form, or by phone. The online form asks for contact details and offers Social Security number or driver's license fields for matching. Only the safety option needs documents.
How long it takes
LexisNexis states a processing time for one case only: a public-safety suppression with documents, which the form says may take up to 30 days, followed by notice of the decision. For prescreen and direct-marketing opt-outs the page states no timeline, and the online form only confirms the request is under review. Report and freeze requests are answered by U.S. mail. If you hear nothing after 30 days, call 1-888-497-0011 with the date you filed.
LexisNexis opt-out problems and fixes
optout.lexisnexis.com shows a page with no form
That address now forwards to consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com/opt, an overview page. Click Request Opt-Out/Opt-In to reach the online form, or use the state privacy request page if you want deletion or a do-not-sell opt-out. Older guides describe a single suppression form that no longer matches this page.
I do not want to give my Social Security number
The online form labels the SSN optional, so you can leave it blank and fill in other fields such as a driver's license. A weaker match can make your file harder to find, so the request may take longer. Call 1-888-497-0011 and ask what else can identify you.
I do not have the documents the safety request asks for
The page lists acceptable proof: a letter about your role from a supervisor, a protective order, a police report, or a letter from a shelter administrator or health care professional. Gather one before you file, or call 1-888-497-0011 to ask whether other proof is accepted.
I still get credit-card or insurance offers, or my details are on other sites
A LexisNexis opt-out covers LexisNexis lists only. It does not affect your credit or insurance applications, stop other companies' direct mail, or remove you from Equifax, Experian or TransUnion lists. The page points to DMAchoice and donotcall.gov for other marketing, and people-search sites each need their own opt-out.
I never got a decision
Keep your screenshot and the date you filed. Safety requests can take up to 30 days. After that, call 1-888-497-0011, or resubmit through the online form if you used the mail-in version and nothing came back.
The information in my report is wrong
An opt-out is not a correction. Request your consumer disclosure report, then use the dispute process. The request page offers a Description of Process Letter explaining how disputes are handled, and the state privacy page lets residents of listed states ask for correction.
After you opt out of LexisNexis
Keep the confirmation and the date for each request. These opt-outs are narrow: they stop specific uses, so request your free disclosure report once a year and check what is still on file. Risk-data companies refresh from public records, customers and suppliers, so new marketing or offers may mean you need to file again. Next, handle the credit bureaus' own prescreen opt-outs, then Acxiom and Innovis. Re-checking those on a schedule is what My Privacy Agent's Patrol plan automates.
Who does what for LexisNexis
The honest split, so nothing here reads as a promise we cannot keep.
What we handle
- Opening the official LexisNexis form pre-filled with your scan details.
- Tracking the request status after you complete the step only you can do.
- Re-checking lexisnexis.com before anything is marked removed.
What you must do
- Complete the step LexisNexis requires from you directly: photo ID.
- Provide identity documents directly to the broker; we never collect or store your ID.
- Re-check lexisnexis.com after LexisNexis states a processing time for one case only: a public-safety suppression with documents, which the form says may take up to 30 days, followed by notice of the decision. For prescreen and direct-marketing opt-outs the page states no timeline, and the online form only confirms the request is under review. Report and freeze requests are answered by U.S. mail. If you hear nothing after 30 days, call 1-888-497-0011 with the date you filed. and repeat the process if the listing returns.
Realistic scope
This guide removes this one LexisNexis listing once you complete the step only you can do. It does not touch LexisNexis's other data products, other brokers that buy data from LexisNexis, or the public records the listing was built from -- those need their own opt-outs. Most people-search sites re-ingest data on their own schedule, so plan on re-checking lexisnexis.com every few months even after a successful removal.
My Privacy Agent opens the LexisNexis form and tracks the outcome.
LexisNexis requires your SSN, date of birth, and identity documents. Leak Check Me never collects those, so this is always a human step: our agent can open the portal and fill the non-sensitive fields, then hands the rest to you and tracks the outcome.
Current service availability and terms are listed on the pricing page. Nothing is marked removed before a provider or native action succeeds.
LexisNexis opt-out FAQ
Is LexisNexis legit, and is its opt-out page safe to use?
Yes. LexisNexis Risk Solutions is a large, long-established data company owned by RELX, and consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com is its official consumer portal. The online form can ask for your date of birth, Social Security number or driver's license, so confirm the address bar before typing, and never enter those details on a look-alike domain. You do not need to be a customer to file, and we saw no payment step.
How do I opt out of LexisNexis?
Go to consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com/opt, click Request Opt-Out/Opt-In, and choose Prescreen, Direct Marketing or Public Safety. You can also mail the printable form or call 1-888-497-0011. State privacy requests are free; LexisNexis states there is no charge for them.
Can I delete my data from LexisNexis?
Residents of the 20 states listed on its privacy page can request deletion, correction, access, or a do-not-sell opt-out at consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com/privacy. Each right applies subject to your state's law, so some records, such as regulated consumer reports, may follow different rules.
How do I get my LexisNexis consumer report?
Use consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com/factact. The FACT Act entitles you to one free copy of your applicable consumer report from certain consumer reporting agencies in a 12-month period. Request it online, by mail, or by phone at 1-866-312-8076; after online verification, LexisNexis sends the details by mail.
Does the LexisNexis opt-out stop prescreened credit offers?
It removes you from LexisNexis Risk Solutions Inc.'s prescreen lists, but it does not affect credit or insurance applications or other companies' mailings. Equifax, Experian and TransUnion have their own prescreen lists, and you opt out of those with each bureau.
How long does the LexisNexis opt-out take?
The site gives a time only for safety suppressions with documents: up to 30 days, with notice of the decision. For prescreen and direct-marketing opt-outs it gives none, and the form just says the request is under review. Call 1-888-497-0011 if you hear nothing after a month.
Should I place a LexisNexis security freeze?
A freeze stops LexisNexis from releasing your consumer disclosure report or credit score without your authorization, and it is free to apply, lift or remove. It covers LexisNexis only, so it does not replace freezes at the three credit bureaus.
Can a judge, police officer or someone at risk get their information suppressed?
Yes. The opt-out page offers public-safety suppression from restricted public-records products for officials, judges, law enforcement and private individuals under threat. You must supply documents, and the portal has a separate section for Daniel's Law protections.
Does My Privacy Agent remove me from LexisNexis automatically?
LexisNexis requires your SSN, date of birth, and identity documents. Leak Check Me never collects those, so this is always a human step: our agent can open the portal and fill the non-sensitive fields, then hands the rest to you and tracks the outcome.
