How to remove yourself from Instant Checkmate (2026 opt-out guide)
Guide content reviewed 2026-10-05
Reading current independent checks… See route evidence
Instant Checkmate's old opt-out link now sends you to the shared PeopleConnect Suppression Center at suppression.peopleconnect.us. Enter your email, tick the consent box, then click the verification link PeopleConnect emails you. After that you search for the background reports about you and choose to suppress them. It is free and needs no account. The same portal also reaches sister brands including TruthFinder, Intelius and US Search.

Work through this with your agent
Give your agent the published steps, sources and read-only tools. It should check the current official process and ask before taking action.
Copies public guidance only. You still approve any request your agent submits.

Check if you are listed on Instant Checkmate
Instant Checkmate does not expose a stable public search URL we can prefill, so find your listing directly: open instantcheckmate.com, search your full name plus your state (and previous states), and copy the URL of the record that is you. The opt-out form usually asks for that URL or the same name and location.
What Instant Checkmate typically shows
- Your name and known aliases
- Current and past addresses
- Phone numbers and email addresses
- Relatives and associates
- Criminal and arrest records
- Court filings and property ownership
- Social media profiles
An exposure report can help organize candidate listings before you work through the site's official steps.
Remove yourself from InstantCheckmate
8 steps. Use the official site in a normal browser and follow its current instructions if a human check fails.
- 01
Understand what suppression does
Suppression hides your background report on the PeopleConnect sites so it no longer appears in their search results. It does not erase the court, arrest, property or other public records the report was built from, and it does not touch other data brokers that hold the same information.
- 02
Open the official Suppression Center
Go to suppression.peopleconnect.us, or use the old instantcheckmate.com/opt-out/ link, which redirects there. Check the address bar before you type anything. The page is a script-driven app, so use a normal desktop browser with no VPN and no script blockers, and expect no payment or account.
- 03
Enter your email and give consent
On the first screen, type your email into "Email Address", tick the checkbox agreeing to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, and continue. When we loaded it on October 5, 2026 there was no CAPTCHA. Use an address you can open right now, because the next step is an email.
- 04
Click the verification link
Open the email from PeopleConnect and click the link. One independent walkthrough says the link expires after 15 minutes, so do not leave it. Check spam and promotions if it does not arrive, and restart from step 3 if the link has expired.
- 05
Identify yourself and search for your records
After verification the portal asks for details so it can match you to records. Independent walkthroughs report a full name, a full street address, and codes sent to your phone and email. Our own check only reached the first screen, so follow the prompts on the portal and give only what it requires.
- 06
Suppress only the records that are you
Review the reports the portal shows. Near-matches with similar names or older addresses can appear, so pick only the ones that are really you. Use the visibility setting the portal gives each record to hide it. A walkthrough describes this as a dropdown for choosing to suppress or leave visible.
- 07
Repeat for name variants and old addresses
Different spellings, initials, maiden names and old addresses can create separate reports that a single search misses. Go back through the portal for each variant you have used. One independent walkthrough reports that these variants are the usual reason a report seems to survive.
- 08
Check the result on each brand
Search Instant Checkmate, TruthFinder, Intelius and US Search for your name and state after a few days. If a report is still showing, email privacy@instantcheckmate.com with the report URL and the date you used the portal. Keep the verification email as your record.
What the Instant Checkmate opt-out page looked like when we checked
We loaded the opt-out page on suppression.peopleconnect.us on October 5, 2026 and it was up. The first screen asked for: Email Address, I agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, and consent .
This is a dated record of what our browser saw, not a removal. We never submit requests from this page.

What is InstantCheckmate?
Instant Checkmate is a paid background-report service. Anyone who enters a first and last name and a city or state can pull up a report that gathers public records and other data into one page. You do not have to use the service to be in it.
Reports can include current and past addresses, phone numbers, relatives, criminal and arrest records, court filings, property ownership and social media profiles. The FTC has noted that Instant Checkmate gets its data from third parties, and in 2014 described its reports as public-record information that employers and landlords can use. That makes a listing more sensitive than a simple phone directory entry. Its old opt-out address now redirects to a portal shared with several sister brands, so one request can hide a report on more than one site.

- Social media profiles
Who runs InstantCheckmate, and which sites one request covers
Instant Checkmate is owned by PeopleConnect Holdings, Inc., an affiliate of the private equity firm H.I.G. Capital. It joined PeopleConnect in 2020, when the company that also owned TruthFinder merged with it. PeopleConnect runs Intelius, TruthFinder and US Search too, and our research group about two dozen white-label sites under the same Suppression Center. ZabaSearch is in that family in our earlier records, but one independent walkthrough says the portal does not cover it, so check it separately. The FTC took action against Instant Checkmate in 2014 and, with TruthFinder, in 2023.
Same request also covers: truthfinder.com, intelius.com, ussearch.com, addresses.com, anywho.com, backgroundhawk.com, criminal.com, criminaldatacheck.com, criminalrecords.com, easybackgroundchecks.com, instantcheckspy.com, northcarolinapublicrecords.org, peoplefind.com, peoplefinder.com, privateeye.com, publiclibraries.com, publicrecords.com, recordspage.org, recordsquarry.com, reversephonelookup.com, sheriffsdepartment.net, snoopstation.com, southcarolinapublicrecords.com
What is the instantcheckmate.com opt-out removal process?
The instantcheckmate.com opt-out is a shared portal with an email verification step. When we loaded the old opt-out link on October 5, 2026, it ended at suppression.peopleconnect.us/login, titled "PeopleConnect - Suppression Center". The first screen asked for an "Email Address" and a consent checkbox, with no CAPTCHA. You then click an emailed link, identify yourself, find your reports and suppress them. The portal is a script-driven app, so use a normal browser without ad or script blockers.
How long it takes
Instant Checkmate does not publish a processing time in the pages we could read, and the portal lets you set the visibility of each record yourself. Our earlier research estimated about 48 hours for a report to disappear, which is an estimate, not a commitment. Search the brand sites again after a few days. If a report is still showing after a week, email privacy@instantcheckmate.com with the report URL and the date you submitted.
InstantCheckmate opt-out problems and fixes
The page is blank or the portal will not load
The portal and the Instant Checkmate privacy center are script-driven pages. Turn off ad blockers and script blockers, drop any VPN, and try another browser. Go straight to suppression.peopleconnect.us rather than a search result.
The verification email never arrived or the link expired
Check spam and promotions, then resubmit once. One independent walkthrough says the link expires after 15 minutes, so start again from the first screen if you were away. If it still does not come, email privacy@instantcheckmate.com.
I cannot find my report in the portal
Try other spellings of your name, initials, a maiden name and your previous addresses, since each can be a separate record. If you still find nothing but a report shows on the site, email privacy@instantcheckmate.com with the report URL.
My report is gone on Instant Checkmate but shows on another site
Check each sister brand directly. ZabaSearch in particular is listed in our earlier records but reported by one walkthrough as outside this portal, so look it up on its own. Other white-label sites need a separate search too.
My report came back later
New data pulls and new name variants can create a fresh report. Go back to the Suppression Center, find the new record and suppress it. Keep your first verification email as proof you opted out.
Send this to privacy@instantcheckmate.com
Subject: Suppression and deletion request for my Instant Checkmate report
Hello, Under applicable state privacy laws, including the CCPA where it applies, I request that you delete or suppress the personal information you hold about me and stop selling or sharing it. Name: [Full name] Email address: [Email] Location: [City, State] Report URL: [Listing URL] Please confirm by email once the report has been removed. Thank you.
After you opt out of InstantCheckmate
Keep the verification email. PeopleConnect brands refresh from new sources, and a report can reappear under a new spelling or address, so re-check every two to three months. Then work through other background-check and people-search sites such as BeenVerified, Spokeo and Whitepages, which hold their own copies. Re-checking all of them on a schedule is what My Privacy Agent's Patrol plan automates.
Who does what for Instant Checkmate
The honest split, so nothing here reads as a promise we cannot keep.
What we handle
- Opening the official Instant Checkmate form pre-filled with your scan details.
- Tracking the request status after you complete the step only you can do.
- Re-checking instantcheckmate.com before anything is marked removed.
What you must do
- Complete the step Instant Checkmate requires from you directly: email confirmation.
- Open the confirmation email and click the link -- the request is not filed until you do.
- Re-check instantcheckmate.com after Instant Checkmate does not publish a processing time in the pages we could read, and the portal lets you set the visibility of each record yourself. Our earlier research estimated about 48 hours for a report to disappear, which is an estimate, not a commitment. Search the brand sites again after a few days. If a report is still showing after a week, email privacy@instantcheckmate.com with the report URL and the date you submitted. and repeat the process if the listing returns.
Realistic scope
This guide removes this one Instant Checkmate listing once you complete the step only you can do. It does not touch Instant Checkmate's other data products, other brokers that buy data from Instant Checkmate, or the public records the listing was built from -- those need their own opt-outs. Most people-search sites re-ingest data on their own schedule, so plan on re-checking instantcheckmate.com every few months even after a successful removal.
My Privacy Agent opens the Instant Checkmate form and tracks the outcome.
Instant Checkmate requires a step only you can do (email confirmation). After you authorize a mission, our agent opens the official form with your scan details, hands you that step, records the request as filed only when the site confirms it, and re-checks the listing before anything is called removed. If the site blocks the agent, you get the same instructions above instead of a fake status.
Current service availability and terms are listed on the pricing page. Nothing is marked removed before a provider or native action succeeds.
Instant Checkmate opt-out FAQ
Is Instant Checkmate legit, and is the suppression portal safe to use?
Instant Checkmate is a real company owned by PeopleConnect Holdings, Inc., but its marketing has drawn regulators' attention: the FTC fined it $525,000 in 2014 and, with TruthFinder, $5.8 million in 2023 over Fair Credit Reporting Act and deceptive-marketing claims. The Suppression Center is its official opt-out and is free. Do not pay a third party to submit it for you.
How do I remove myself from Instant Checkmate?
Open suppression.peopleconnect.us, enter your email and tick the consent box, click the verification link in the email, then find your reports and suppress them. The old instantcheckmate.com/opt-out/ link redirects to the same portal. It is free.
Does opting out of Instant Checkmate also remove me from TruthFinder and Intelius?
Yes. The Suppression Center is shared by Instant Checkmate, TruthFinder, Intelius and US Search, and our research group about two dozen related sites with it. Check each brand afterward, and check ZabaSearch separately.
How long does the Instant Checkmate opt-out take?
No timeline is published. Our earlier research estimated about 48 hours, and you set the visibility of each record in the portal yourself. Re-check after a few days and email privacy@instantcheckmate.com if a report is still showing after a week.
Why is my Instant Checkmate report back after I suppressed it?
A new spelling of your name, a new address or a fresh data pull can create a new report that the earlier request did not cover. Run the Suppression Center again, find the new record, and re-check every two to three months.
Can I get criminal records removed from Instant Checkmate?
Suppression hides the report on PeopleConnect's sites, including any criminal or arrest entries in it. The underlying court and police records stay with the agencies that hold them, and other background-check sites may still show them.
Do I need an Instant Checkmate account or a paid plan to opt out?
No. The Suppression Center needs only an email address and consent to the terms, then verification. You never need to buy a subscription to hide your report.
What happened to the instantcheckmate.com/opt-out page?
It now redirects to the PeopleConnect Suppression Center at suppression.peopleconnect.us. The instantcheckmate.com privacy center is also a script-driven page, so older guides that describe a separate Instant Checkmate form are out of date.
Does My Privacy Agent remove me from Instant Checkmate automatically?
Instant Checkmate requires a step only you can do (email confirmation). After you authorize a mission, our agent opens the official form with your scan details, hands you that step, records the request as filed only when the site confirms it, and re-checks the listing before anything is called removed. If the site blocks the agent, you get the same instructions above instead of a fake status.
